A MESSAGE FROM JOSÉ A. LABARRA
2021 was a positive year for ROADIS. With the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic over thanks to the vaccination efforts and the progressive de-escalation of restrictions, we can now confirm that all our assets have almost been restored to pre-pandemic traffic levels. In some markets such as Spain and Mexico, traffic has grown by around 20%. Revenues and EBITDA have increased by 17% and 10% respectively.

At ROADIS, we continue to adapt to a changing and demanding environment, meeting the challenges of our operations in the Americas, Europe and Asia. And we do so by working with purpose, convinced that this is a strategic driver of value creation which enhances our reputation as investors and our legitimacy as operators.
While in 2020 a special emphasis was places on our commitment to innovation, in 2021 we set our sights on activating another essential driver of our cultural model: sustainability.
In today’s business environment, sustainability is not only a reality but a priority without which growth and development of an organization makes no sense. It is a differentiation strategy that leads to a competitive advantage. Our commitment to sustainability is, indeed, very strong, and this commitment must also be reflected in our corporate governance.
To that end, this year we set up a Sustainability Committee that serves the entire organization; where we manage, monitor, and make decisions on ESG matters. This was, undoubtedly, one of this year’s top priorities and an important item on the agendas of our Board of Directors and Executive Committee meetings.

As you will see in the pages of this report, in 2021 each of our business areas have continued to work on the implementation of the Sustainability Master Plan which we designed in 2020. Our sustainability strategy is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and in this regard ROADIS’ contribution to 8 of the 17 goals is noteworthy.
From an operational standpoint, as a company we are co-responsible along with the local governments for transforming the society in which we live. Internally, we have also developed training and awareness plans at all levels, offering workshops on our cultural model and how it is connected to the concept of sustainable development, as well as internal communication campaigns.

I invite you to read this report. In these pages you will learn about our business model and ROADIS’ performance in 2021. In addition, as I mentioned earlier, you will have the chance to learn more about our sustainability strategy, which is structured around five main themes: responsible culture, good governance and regulatory compliance, engaged professionals, citizenship progress and environmental care. You will also read about some of the initiatives that demonstrate our commitment to community development in support of economic growth, social well-being, and environmental protection.
We are optimistic about 2022 and confident that we are moving closer to the end of the COVID-19 crisis. We at ROADIS will continue working hard, committed to sustainability and excellence, prepared for the challenges that lie ahead and striving, as always, for a better world.
