INNOVATION

COMMITTED TO INNOVATION

Innovation is one of the cornerstones of ROADIS’ culture.  Since 2019, we have been promoting a cultural change that will allow us to adopt a new way of doing things and of relating to others.

This commitment to innovation pursues three main objectives:

Maximize efficiency at the company

Create added value in the company

Open new business lines

Aside from the fact that people are the key to any innovation process, another of our objectives is to improve the lives of those around us.

The Innovation team has been working for some time toward materializing ideas and having an impact at ROADIS. Setting in place the challenge-solving skills of our teams to work to find options; we look for solutions together and really listen to each other: this is the way to be creative as a team and to innovate.

This is precisely what we do in the ROADIS INNOVACTION CREW, an international group of professionals who share best practices, lessons learned and market opportunities. The Crew continued its work in 2021, increasing the number of members from 20 to 30.

INNOVATION AND CULTURE

We want to make innovation one of the pillars of ROADIS' culture. Throughout 2021, initiatives have been put in place to raise awareness of the initiatives being carried out in this area within the organization.

Innovation workshops

In the first half of 2021, approximately 20 workshops were held in which some 300 employees from all geographical regions were trained in the importance of innovation, new problem-solving methodologies, and departmental developments.

Agile Working Groups

The Agile Working Groups have taken their first steps in agile methodologies, with 25 representatives from different geographical regions focusing on the following topics:

  • Renewable energy
  • Customer experience
  • Drones
  • “Internet of Things” and connectivity

Pills by Genius

The "Pills by Genius" initiative made the status of projects under development known to the rest of the company. In an original 1-minute video format, project managers answer questions about their projects.

Inspiration Day

Another "Inspiration Day" was held at the end of the year with around 200 attendees, bringing innovation closer to our employees. At this year’s event, two new topics were added: sustainability and inclusion.

We have also begun to develop our innovation ecosystem by projecting this culture outwards through projects with universities and collaborations with external entities.

In this regard, ROADIS is working to validate the case of use for blockchain technology in the toll collection and transactions sector. This is a pilot project being developed by a consortium with European funding and Indra as our technological partner. The aim of this functionality is to provide operators and concession holders with an even more robust and reliable solution for managing common databases quickly and efficiently, increasing the integrity, transparency, and traceability of the data.

Also, this year, we are collaborating with the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) to develop a technology that combines artificial vision and road safety in order to analyze the human factor in traffic accidents and incidents.
